TIL Healthcare plant explosion kills five in Andhra Pradesh

A powerful boiler explosion at the TIL Healthcare pharmaceutical manufacturing unit in the Sri City Special Economic Zone (SEZ) killed at least five workers and injured approximately 10 others on Saturday morning. The blast, which occurred around 8:00 AM in the Satyavedu mandal of Tirupati district, caused extensive damage to the facility, including the collapse of parts of the building and the scattering of debris.

Victims identified include Gaurab Roy, Chinna Mastan, and Ramesh, while another worker, Vasu, reportedly died while undergoing treatment. The explosion triggered a fire within the formulations manufacturing unit, complicating rescue efforts. Emergency teams, police, and fire personnel responded to the scene to evacuate the injured, some of whom were transferred to hospitals in Chennai for critical care.

Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the explosion, examining potential technical malfunctions or safety failures. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and IT Minister Nara Lokesh expressed condolences and directed officials to provide support to the affected families. Additionally, Tablets (India) Limited issued a clarification stating they have no connection to the incident or TIL Healthcare.
