Bojan Simić publishes collection of over 1,600 folk proverbs

Archpriest Bojan Simić has compiled a collection of over 1,600 folk proverbs and sayings in his book, ‘Mudrosti predaka naših’ (Wisdom of Our Ancestors). The collection aims to preserve traditional wisdom regarding work, honesty, family, faith, and friendship for future generations.

The book is organized by themes, including relationships with God, others, and oneself, as well as topics like wealth and time. Simić noted that the collection includes sayings known throughout the former Yugoslavia and aims to help maintain a linguistic and cultural connection for young people, including Serbian youth living in Germany.

In addition to preserving heritage, the book serves a humanitarian purpose. The collection highlights how folk wisdom often encapsulates vast life experiences within single sentences, ranging from serious moral lessons to humorous observations.
