Željko Vujović arrested for suspected attempted murder in Bileća

Police in Bosnia and Herzegovina have arrested Željko Vujović, who is suspected of attempted heavy murder following an incident at a horse racing event in the village of Bijeljani near Bileća. According to investigators, Vujović intentionally drove a vehicle into a group of people, hitting three individuals. Video footage reportedly shows the suspect hitting one person, driving backward, and striking them again.

Three people were injured in the attack. One man, born in 1994, was admitted to intensive care in Trebinje with multiple fractures, including injuries to his left shoulder and right shin. The other two victims sustained minor injuries and remain hospitalized.

Authorities have also arrested Goran Čubrilo and Marija Ivković on suspicion of aiding the perpetrator in his escape. Police are continuing to search for Mirko Samardžić, who reportedly fled the scene alongside Vujović. Vujović is a known individual to law enforcement, with a criminal history involving arson, weapons possession, and previous incidents of physical assault and unlawful deprivation of liberty in 2021.
