Bokhol inaugurates fish feed factory to boost Senegal aquaculture

A new fish feed production plant has been inaugurated in Bokhol, located in the Dagana department of the Senegal River Valley. Operated by Atlantic Mariculture in partnership with the National Agency for Aquaculture (ANA) and the Commune of Bokhol, the facility aims to reduce the sector's heavy reliance on imported feed.

The 5,000 square meter unit represents an investment of 380 million FCFA and has an annual production target of 3,600 tonnes, with an industrial capacity of 1 to 1.5 tonnes per hour. The plant is expected to create 64 jobs, including 28 permanent positions.

During the ceremony, presided over by the Minister of Fisheries and Maritime Economy, Amy Mara Dièye, the Aquajef 360 program was also officially launched. This initiative is designed to support youth and women in developing aquaculture activities in both freshwater and marine environments, fostering entrepreneurship and income generation. Minister Dièye described the factory as a vital component in building Senegal's food sovereignty.
