Bokmässan updates code of conduct amid program controversy

The Gothenburg Book Fair has updated its code of conduct and internal routines following previous controversies regarding programming related to Israel. The changes, according to CEO Oskar Ekström, involve new measures for responsibility, communication, and security, specifically for the 'Demokratitorget' area. The updated code emphasizes respect for democratic principles, human rights, and a safe conversational climate.

This follows criticism from the previous year regarding sessions organized by the Sweden-Israel Friendship Association. This year, the association has returned to the fair, but its program has once again been subject to police reports concerning specific formulations. One session includes former Member of Parliament Widar Andersson as a speaker. While the fair's management has implemented these new guidelines for exhibitors, they have not released the full text of the code of conduct to the public.
