Boko Haram insurgents launch deadly attacks in Borno and Adamawa
Boko Haram insurgents have carried out deadly attacks in Borno and Adamawa states in Nigeria. In Damasak, Borno State, an attack resulted in at least 18 deaths and 21 injuries. The assault caused significant destruction to property, including a police station, a primary healthcare centre, a UN humanitarian hub, and residential houses.
Governor Babagana Zulum visited Damasak to assess the damage and meet with security forces. During his visit, he provided 12 security vehicles, including an armoured personnel carrier and 11 patrol vehicles, to support the military, civilian JTF, and local vigilantes. The Governor’s presence in the town also served to address speculation regarding the town’s security status.
In Adamawa State, insurgents attacked the Tela-Bala and Guyaku communities in the Gombi Local Government Area. The attack, which occurred late at night, reportedly killed five security operatives, including four soldiers and one Forest Guard. Insurgents targeted a military armoured personnel carrier at a checkpoint, causing severe damage to the vehicle, though they were ultimately repelled by troops when they attempted to advance toward the local government headquarters.
