Belgrade bomb discovery: WWII aerial bomb found at construction site

A World War II-era German SC 250 aerial bomb, weighing approximately 250 kilograms with 130 kilograms of explosives, was discovered at a construction site in Poenkareva Street, Belgrade. Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dačić announced that the bomb, which is equipped with an electrical detonator, must be destroyed on-site to ensure safety.

Authorities have scheduled the destruction for Sunday, October 4, starting at 6:00 AM. An operational headquarters comprising various municipal and emergency services has been formed to coordinate the process. As a safety precaution, citizens within a 150-meter radius of the site will be evacuated, while residents in a wider 200-meter risk zone will be notified of movement restrictions and safety measures.

Separately, political tensions are rising in Bosnia and Herzegovina ahead of the general elections scheduled for October 4, 2026. Milorad Dodik has expressed hope that US political shifts could assist Republika Srpska in seeking independence, while legal experts debate the requirements for potential pardons for political figures.
