Bola Tinubu celebrates Rabiu Kwankwaso’s 70th birthday

President Bola Tinubu has issued a birthday message to former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, marking his 70th birthday. Tinubu emphasized that their long-standing personal relationship will endure despite their current political differences and the likelihood of competing on different platforms in the January 2027 election.

Reflecting on a relationship spanning over three decades, Tinubu noted that their paths first crossed in 1992 when Kwankwaso served in the House of Representatives and Tinubu in the Senate. Both were part of the ‘Class of ’99 Governors’ during Nigeria’s democratic transition to the Fourth Republic. Tinubu also recalled their collaboration in 2013 to form the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Tinubu acknowledged Kwankwaso’s significant contributions to Nigerian politics, including his two terms as governor of Kano State, his tenure as Minister of Defence, and his service as a senator. He described Kwankwaso as an influential and progressive politician.
