Bolaños de Calatrava honors seniors on International Grandparents Day

The municipal residence Virgen del Monte in Bolaños de Calatrava hosted a celebration for International Day of Grandparents. Mayor Miguel Ángel Valverde, also president of the Provincial Deputation of Ciudad Real, and councilor for Seniors Mari Ángeles de Toro attended, thanking residents, families, staff and the managing company Garcinia for their dedication.

Valverde highlighted the three‑decade history of the residence, praised the “close and human” care provided, and announced forthcoming upgrades: an expansion of the main hall using part of the courtyard and the creation of a new outdoor area to improve comfort and accessibility. He also reiterated the municipality’s plan to build a new senior residence, noting that the project has been awarded but construction has not yet begun.

The event underscored the community’s respect for older citizens as living memory of the town and reaffirmed the council’s commitment to enhancing senior services.
