Bolaños de Calatrava hosts 44th Castillo de San Fernando contest

The 44th edition of the Castillo de San Fernando contest in Bolaños de Calatrava has concluded, receiving a total of 856 entries across literary and pictorial categories.

In the literary category, which saw 682 submissions, María Sagrario Escribano Olivares won the prose prize for ‘La trenza del viento’, and Miguel Ángel Carcelén Gandía won the verse prize for ‘Paisaje de sonetos para cuatro estaciones’. Both awards included a prize of 500 euros.

In the painting category, 174 works were evaluated. Kihong Chung received the Ayuntamiento de Bolaños First Prize of 2,250 euros for the mixed media piece ‘Monologue’. Juan José Pedrosa González was awarded the Diputación Provincial de Ciudad Real First Prize, also for 2,250 euros, for his mixed media work on wood titled ‘SOS IV’.

The awards are scheduled to be presented on September 11 during the traditional Justas Literarias.
