Bolivia advances El Alto megaproject road works

Bolivia’s Ministry of Public Works is pushing ahead with a package of megaprojects on the El Alto metropolitan corridor aimed at easing traffic and boosting logistics. The key components include the Río Seco–Río Seque Bridge, now 61.2% complete, and the eight‑lane Senkata‑Apacheta dual carriageway, which has reached 7.03% progress and is financed by Fonplata. Additional works cover the technical design of the Periférica Avenue integration into the fundamental road network, and the re‑activation of the Río Seco–Huarina dual carriageway with a new lane under preparation by the Bolivian Road Administration (ABC). The bridge is slated for completion by year‑end, though the schedule faces possible delays from blockades, fuel shortages and fluctuations in material prices. Funding for the Periférica project will be sought from the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF) after technical studies are finalized.
