Bolivia and Honduras move to renew judicial and electoral appointment processes

Bolivia's Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) presented technical and logistical details for a new call to fill magistrates of the Plurinational Constitutional Court and the Supreme Court of Justice. Officials said there are no legal obstacles and that the Legislative Assembly must issue an updated call with revised rules, timelines and pre‑selection procedures. The briefing included input from TSE vocal Carlos Goytia, legal director Reynaldo Irigoyen and commission president Juan del Granado, who emphasized the need for clear electoral schedules and compliance with legal deadlines.

In Honduras, National Anti‑Corruption Council head Gabriela Castellanos urged the National Congress to accelerate the selection of replacements for the National Electoral Council and the Electoral Justice Tribunal. She called for candidates with technical expertise rather than party‑quota appointments, criticised political bargaining that stalls the process, and stressed that the appointments are essential for the country's democratic functioning.
