Bolivia announces Investment Law and anti-corruption commissioner

Bolivian President Rodrigo Paz has announced a series of structural reforms aimed at reconstructing the state. A key component of this initiative is the presentation of the Investment Law to the Plurinational Legislative Assembly, scheduled for Tuesday, August 11. This law is the first in a package of at least 12 proposed regulations, including new laws for mining, hydrocarbons, and energy, intended to create a legal framework to attract investment in strategic economic sectors.

To support these transformations, the government is creating a High Commissioner for Institutional Integrity and Justice. This new authority will represent the Executive branch, monitor cases involving potential corruption or irregularities within the state, and assist in the broader judicial reform process. Presidential spokesperson José Luis Gálvez stated that after an initial period focused on economic stabilization, the administration is moving into a phase of profound structural changes to address institutional transparency and economic growth.
