Bolivia appoints Erick Sanjinés as education minister

President Rodrigo Paz appointed Erick Sanjinés Chávez as Bolivia's new minister of Education, replacing Beatriz García who resigned. Sanjinés, a former general adviser to the ministry and university professor, becomes the third cabinet member to leave the current administration.

In his inaugural speech, Sanjinés urged parents, students, universities, sub‑national governments and the private sector to join efforts to strengthen education. He highlighted the need for a more competitive and better‑trained student body and pledged deeper dialogue with urban and rural teachers. The president noted the government's plan to add more than 3,000 new education items and to expand connectivity in schools through Starlink antennas, aiming to place education at the centre of the national agenda.
