Bolivia approves productive credit for public transport providers
The Bolivian government has approved Supreme Decree 5739, which allows individuals and legal entities providing public motor transport services to access productive credit. This financing can be used for the acquisition or replacement of vehicles, comprehensive repairs, or the upgrading of units. It also covers the purchase of engines and necessary equipment for service provision.
To qualify, financial institutions must verify the applicant's affiliation, authorization, license, or required registration for the transport service. The decree explicitly excludes financing intended for private-use vehicles.
These credits will be granted with interest rates within the maximum limits established for productive sector financing. They will also count toward the minimum portfolio levels required of financial intermediation entities. The Financial System Supervision Authority (ASFI) is tasked with issuing the necessary regulations for compliance within 15 days.
