Bolivia beef exports reach $121 million despite volume drop
Bolivian beef and meat derivative exports reached $121.16 million between January and July 2026, representing a 3% increase in value compared to the same period in 2025. However, export volumes saw a significant decline of 24%, dropping from 27.94 million kilograms to 21.23 million kilograms.
China remains the dominant market for Bolivian meat, accounting for 88% of the total export value with $106 million in sales. Other notable destinations include Ecuador ($8 million) and Peru ($3 million). Over the eleven-year period from 2015 to 2025, total beef and derivative exports accumulated $1.115 billion.
Domestically, the Confederation of Meat Workers of Bolivia (CONTRACABOL) has warned of economic losses due to rising prices and decreased local consumption. The organization noted that increased logistics and transport costs, partly driven by the removal of diesel subsidies, are impacting retailers and meat vendors.
