Bolivia business groups warn of legal uncertainty and currency pressures

The Federation of Private Entrepreneurs of La Paz (Feplp) warned that the legal dispute involving Sociedad Boliviana de Cemento (Soboce) threatens judicial certainty and investor confidence. The group called for impartial, transparent court actions respecting due process and cited recent Supreme Decree No. 1190/2026 as a benchmark for protecting private investment and the country’s productive sector.

The Confederation of Artisanal Workers of Bolivia criticised speculation following the country’s shift to a flexible exchange‑rate regime on 26 June 2026. The official dollar rate jumped from Bs 6.96 to Bs 10.40 by 13 July—a 49 % rise. Officials said importers were inflating prices of raw materials for wood, metal‑mechanics and textiles, harming family‑run artisan businesses. They urged activation of Law 306 on artisanal promotion and announced plans for new industrial projects in the Kallutaca Industrial Park to boost domestic production and preserve cultural heritage.
