Bolivia earmarks over Bs 1 billion for Chuquisaca’s Diagonal Jaime Mendoza road
Bolivia’s Minister of Public Works, Mauricio Zamora, announced an investment of more than Bs 1 000 million (about US$145 million) to build the final sections of the Diagonal Jaime Mendoza highway in the Chuquisaca department. The project is intended to improve the region’s connectivity with the rest of the country and international markets, fostering economic growth and better living conditions for local communities.
Stakeholders—including transport unions, regional officials, mayors and legislators—signed an agreement to accelerate licensing, update design studies and secure financing, with talks planned with the CAF‑Development Bank of Latin America. Work will focus on the El Salto‑Puente Límón and Molino‑Monteagudo sections and on maintaining the strategic Ruta Héroes del Chaco. Zamora said, “Arrancamos con la construcción de los tramos finales de la Diagonal Jaime Mendoza.”
