Bolivia exports Nelore cattle embryos to Guatemala
Bolivian cattle breeders are expanding their international presence through the export of Nelore breed genetics to Guatemala. During the Expocruz 2026 event, the Bolivian Association of Zebu Breeders (ASOCEBÚ) announced the export of approximately 570 embryos to the Guatemalan agricultural property Cebulandia during the 2026 period.
This trade is facilitated by a sanitary protocol established between Bolivia and Guatemala, which permits the export of bovine embryos and frozen semen. ASOCEBÚ President Marcelo Muñoz stated that the achievement is the result of coordinated work between breeders, the International Federation of Zebu Breeders (FICEBU), and the governments of both nations.
In addition to the shipments to Guatemala, ASOCEBÚ officials noted growing interest from international delegations, including representatives from Ecuador, Peru, and Brazil, regarding the acquisition of Bolivian bovine genetics and the potential for future live cattle exports.
