Bolivia faces crisis of over 8,000 children in orphanages

In Bolivia, more than 8,369 children are living in orphanages, a situation driven by factors such as family poverty and maltreatment. These children often remain within institutional settings, sometimes isolated from their surrounding communities.

Through its Distance Support program, the organization Ai. Bi. Amici dei Bambini works to provide these minors with identity, healthcare, education, and opportunities for the future. One specific case involves Agustina, a child abandoned in El Alto as an infant, who was subsequently transferred to the ‘Niño Jesús’ reception center in La Paz after authorities were unable to locate her biological relatives.
