Bolivia faces political tension amid economic crisis and leadership calls

Bolivia faces intensifying political and economic tension as former leaders issue conflicting calls for action. Former President Jorge ‘Tuto’ Quiroga has criticized the administration of Rodrigo Paz, accusing the government of excessive spending and unnecessary travel while asking citizens to bear the brunt of economic measures. Quiroga specifically blamed Evo Morales for the current fuel shortages and economic instability, alleging that Morales’s previous administration mismanaged gas revenues and wasted approximately $75 billion.

In a separate move, former President Gonzalo Sánchez de Lozada issued a manifesto from Washington calling for the unification of the Movimiento Nacionalista Revolucionario (MNR) to address the country’s institutional and economic crisis. He emphasized the need to combine traditional leadership experience with youth perspectives to avoid dogmatic radicalism.

Meanwhile, the potential arrest of Evo Morales remains a volatile issue. Analysts suggest that the method of any legal action against him—whether through domestic imprisonment or extradition—will significantly impact national stability and public perception of the state's ability to uphold the law.
