Bolivia faces economic crisis and diplomatic gaps

Bolivia is facing a severe multidimensional crisis characterized by dollar shortages, stagflation, and the recent liberalization of fuel prices. The implementation of diesel price adjustments has contributed to economic instability. Additionally, the country is experiencing a significant deficit in diplomatic representation, lacking ambassadors to the United Nations and the United States.

President Rodrigo Paz Pereira recently met with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in New York, marking a new starting point for bilateral relations following the decertification of Bolivia by the United States. As Paz Pereira prepares to address the UN General Assembly, he is expected to promote a narrative of national recovery and openness to foreign investment.

Former President Jorge Tuto Quiroga has criticized the current economic uncertainty, noting that the economy is contracting while prices rise. Quiroga has proposed constitutional and legal reforms to provide greater predictability for the productive sector and to facilitate energy transformation.
