Bolivia government engages unions in dialogue as blockades ease

Bolivia’s executive announced it will meet the Central Obrera Boliviana (COB) on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at the Casa Grande to launch a “table of dialogue and construction of solutions.” Foreign Minister Fernando Aramayo said the state is ready for authentic, transparent talks, stressing that “Naturalmente abrimos los brazos a cualquier espacio y escenario de diálogo.”

President Rodrigo Paz later thanked the departments of Chuquisaca and Potosí for helping lift road blockages, noting that “Por medio del diálogo, los puntos de bloqueo desaparecen.” He emphasized that dialogue is enabling the flow of food, fuel and other essentials to La Paz, El Alto and other regions, and called for continued national reconciliation and stability.
