Bolivia issues free digital high‑school diplomas to 200,000 students

Bolivia’s Ministry of Education announced that approximately 200,000 secondary‑school graduates will receive a free digital bachiller (high‑school) diploma in the 2026 academic year. The measure, prompted by President Rodrigo Paz and presented by Minister Ricardo Sanjinés, removes the need for a legalisation step that previously cost about Bs 180 per student.

Students can download, print and reuse the digital title at any time, eliminating travel to departmental capitals or La Paz. The government expects the change to save families money and to free up around Bs 9 million in departmental budgets that were previously spent on issuing and legalising paper diplomas.
