Bolivian President Rodrigo Paz announces development projects as La Paz creates new coca department

President Rodrigo Paz will take part in the Fiestas Julias celebrations, using the events to unveil nine new investment projects and officially deliver several public works aimed at boosting regional development. The announcements are part of a broader agenda to strengthen the department’s infrastructure and economic activity.

In a separate initiative, La Paz Governor Luis Revilla announced the creation of a Department of Coca, slated to begin operations in January 2027. The new body will promote organic coca cultivation and its industrialisation in the Yungas, while also supporting road maintenance and bridge construction to improve market access for local producers.

Both moves signal the Bolivian government’s focus on leveraging public investment and sector‑specific policies to drive growth and modernise key economic areas.
