Bolivia LPG prices rise following diesel subsidy removal
The removal of diesel subsidies in Bolivia is driving up the cost of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders in several regions due to increased transportation and distribution expenses.
In the municipality of Reyes, Beni, local authorities announced that the price of an LPG cylinder has risen to 50 bolivianos, a 10-bolivian increase. The municipal government stated this variation is a direct result of higher diesel costs affecting product transport. While the official national price remains 22.50 bolivianos at authorized distributors, rural areas are seeing significant spikes.
In the provinces of La Paz, residents in Apolo, Chulumani, and La Asunta report similar upward trends. In Apolo, prices have reportedly jumped from 40 to 70 bolivianos. In Chulumani, the black market price is estimated between 50 and 60 bolivianos. The situation is most acute in La Asunta, where residents report black market prices reaching between 100 and 120 bolivianos per cylinder, attributed to difficult road conditions and increased fuel costs.
