Bolivia President Rodrigo Paz advances industry reforms following 53‑day protests
After 53 days of nationwide blockades that crippled the economy, Bolivia's government ended the unrest by invoking a 90‑day state of emergency, permitting military intervention and temporarily suspending certain individual rights.
President Rodrigo Paz is now pushing to revise the country's nationalist laws that govern key sectors such as mining, hydrocarbons, lithium and energy, aiming to attract foreign investment. The Finance Ministry announced a shift to a flexible exchange‑rate regime to bolster macro‑economic stability. Exporters Chamber chief Oswaldo Barrig highlighted the urgent need to present, approve and implement the necessary legislation for economic recovery.
