Bolivia President Rodrigo Paz Rejects Resignation Calls Amid Blockade Crisis

President Rodrigo Paz warned that groups he labels “narcoterrorists” face legal consequences and affirmed his refusal to resign despite weeks of nationwide blockades. He linked any dialogue with social movements to the enforcement of constitutional mandates and referenced a newly approved state‑of‑exception law that permits forceful intervention. During the same event in El Alto, Paz signed an investment agreement with Mayor Eliser Roca and highlighted the capture of union leader Vicente Salazar by police.

Governor Luis Revilla countered Paz’s stance, stating that the protests have failed to force a resignation and that the situation is moving toward normalisation. He noted that blockades have been lifted in many provinces, fuel supplies have resumed to the metropolitan area, and that economic activity should restart over the upcoming weekend.
