Bolivia President Rodrigo Paz to meet governors during 201st independence celebrations in Sucre
President Rodrigo Paz will hold a meeting with the nine departmental governors on 5 August in Sucre as part of Bolivia’s 201‑year independence celebrations. The festivities run from 3 to 7 August in the constitutional capital and include parades, cultural fairs, concerts, military honors and a series of civic events.
Ahead of the summit, Paz visited Santa Cruz and San Ignacio de Velasco, where he signed an agreement to develop the San Ignacio–Mato Grosso road corridor with Brazil, aiming to boost cross‑border connectivity and attract Brazilian investment. The governors’ meeting will address state reform, the “50/50” fiscal proposal and the strengthening of decentralisation.
The program also features the inauguration of the IX International Folkloric Biennial, school parades, dinosaur‑track exhibitions, and a night‑time concert at the Gran Mariscal Theatre, highlighting Bolivia’s cultural heritage alongside the political agenda.
