Bolivia raids sawmill in major Narcomadera drug‑trafficking probe

Bolivian authorities carried out a midday raid on the Indusmar SRL sawmill in Riberalta, Beni, as part of the ongoing Narcomadera investigation. The operation, led by the Ministry of Public and the Special Force against Narcotrafficking (FELCN), seized documentation and other evidence linking the company’s wood exports to cargoes intercepted in Chile that were allegedly infused with controlled substances.

The raid was one of several simultaneous searches across different regions, aimed at uncovering how legal timber shipments were used to smuggle drugs to international markets, primarily in Europe. Officials said the investigation remains active in both Bolivia and Chile, with further actions expected to determine responsibility and the extent of criminal involvement.

The case has drawn significant attention as one of the most prominent narcotrafficking probes in recent weeks, highlighting the use of legitimate export channels for illicit drug transport.
