Bolivia’s factories and hotels seek recovery after 50‑day nationwide blockade

Exporters in Bolivia say the prolonged blockades have cost about $1 billion in lost sales and are demanding that authorities act against the groups that blocked transport routes. The hotel sector, still reeling from the disruptions, is waiting for conditions to improve before resuming normal operations. In Oruro, the regional federation of factory workers reports that after more than 50 days of stoppages, some companies have begun receiving raw materials and are gradually restarting production lines, although many workers remain on collective vacations and full recovery is expected to take weeks. Dialogue between labour representatives and entrepreneurs has helped avoid further labour conflicts and is seen as key to the sector’s step‑by‑step re‑activation.
