Bolivia Supreme Court President Romer Saucedo faces dispute and probe

Charles Mejía Cardozo, a vocal of the Beni Departmental Justice Tribunal, said both he and Supreme Court President Romer Saucedo made errors during their public social‑media clash over judicial elections. Mejía invited Saucedo to meet in Trinidad to discuss the justice system, noting past insults such as the “72‑hour” ultimatum and stating, “Fue un error de ambas partes.”

The Bolivian Chamber of Deputies has opened a fiscalisation process to investigate recent appointments in the La Paz Departmental Justice Tribunal and the El Alto Real Rights office. Deputies have asked TSJ President Romer Saucedo and Council of Magistracy President Carlos Spencer to provide documentation on the selection of Isaías Jorge Vargas Chambi as president of the La Paz tribunal and Leonor Vera Condori as registrar of Real Rights, citing concerns about merit, transparency, and prior allegations.
