Bolivia to launch mass iron production at Mutún plant
Bolivian President Rodrigo Paz announced the commencement of mass iron production at the Mutún plant. This industrial expansion is expected to increase cargo flow on the Paraguay-Paraná Waterway by two to three times, providing a critical aquatic route to the Atlantic and strengthening foreign trade.
Paz highlighted the importance of URUPABOL, a unique alliance between Uruguay, Paraguay, and Bolivia that operates independently of MERCOSUR. The bloc aims to boost regional investment and economic movement. Following discussions in the United States, technical teams from the three nations are scheduled to meet in Asunción to discuss waterway issues and investment, with a subsequent summit of URUPABOL presidents planned for Bolivia.
