Bolivia‑Chile border hour restriction disrupts trade, flow improves

Chile limited the operating hours at the Pisiga–Colchane crossing to 08:00‑20:00, prompting long queues, a 60 % drop in cargo movements and complaints from international transport operators about reduced time for customs and migration procedures.

A delegation from Bolivia’s Defensoría del Pueblo inspected the site, met with authorities from both countries and called for measures to speed up vehicle flow. Subsequent coordination between Bolivian and Chilean officials increased staffing and operational capacity.

Bolivia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs later reported that the situation had improved markedly, with traffic from Chile to Bolivia fully restored and congestion on the Bolivian side considerably reduced. Remaining trucks are expected to be cleared during the following day, and the corridor is described as nearing normal operation.
