Dominican Republic authorities seize 749 cocaine packages in Baní

Authorities in the Dominican Republic conducted major anti-drug operations, resulting in the seizure of 749 packages of suspected cocaine across 30 bales. The interdiction involved simultaneous maritime, aerial, and land efforts off the coast of Baní, Peravia province, coordinated by the DNCD, the Dominican Navy (ARD), and the Dominican Air Force (FARD), with support from the U.S. DEA and JIATFS.

During the maritime operations, two speedboats were intercepted. One vessel contained 281 packages of suspected cocaine and an exotic monkey being transported alongside the drugs. A second vessel was found with 468 packages. Four Dominican nationals were arrested during these specific maritime interceptions.

In a separate development, two DNCD agents, Deny Manuel Sepúlveda de León and Oliver Guevara Rodríguez, were arrested at the Miami International Airport. The DEA investigation, which began in February 2026, involved a sting operation where the agents were allegedly lured to a training course in Washington. They face federal charges in Florida for conspiracy to distribute controlled substances, having allegedly facilitated drug transit from Barahona to Santo Domingo.

Additionally, DNCD agents dismantled drug distribution points in the Azua province, specifically in the municipalities of Las Charcas and Estebanía, leading to the arrest of 11 people.
