Bolivian banking system shows improved liquidity despite high interest rates

The Bolivian banking system showed improved results in the first half of the year, according to the Financial Stability Report from the Central Bank of Bolivia. Increased deposits have strengthened liquidity, while delinquency rates remained contained and solvency levels were maintained. This recovery allows banks to rebuild capital and absorb potential losses.

However, the Central Bank warned that active interest rates remain high compared to the previous year due to the increased cost of acquiring resources. This high cost of financing creates barriers for businesses seeking capital for machinery or inventory, and for consumers purchasing vehicles or housing. The primary challenge for the sector remains converting this solvency into new productive credit.
