Bolivian child dies as road blockades halt ambulance transfer
A boy aged between 9 and 12 died after an ambulance transporting him from the Hospital Madre Obrera in Llallagua was forced to stop by road blockades. The vehicle could not continue to the higher‑level hospital in Potosí and was redirected toward Oruro, where the child died en route.
Bolivia’s Ministry of Health and the Defensoría de Pueblo condemned the blockades, urging protestors to allow a humanitarian corridor for emergency vehicles, warning that such disruptions jeopardize timely medical care and can lead to further loss of life.
