Bolivian government and mayors agree to stabilize municipal finances

The Bolivian government and capital city mayors have agreed to collaborate on stabilizing municipal finances through the Territorial Financial Readjustment Program (PRFT). During a meeting in Cochabamba, Minister of Economy and Public Finance Christian Andrés Morales and Vice Minister Óscar Gustavo Navarro met with representatives from the Association of Municipalities of Bolivia (AMB) and finance secretaries from major cities, including El Alto.

The PRFT is designed to provide municipal governments with tools to organize finances, strengthen revenue, improve spending efficiency, and manage obligations to achieve long-term financial sustainability. Minister Morales noted that improving and readjusting municipal financial systems is a necessary step for the program's implementation. The AMB stated that participation in the program is entirely voluntary and respects the autonomy of each municipality.
