Bolivian kitten discovery reveals new cat species
In Bolivia, a spotted kitten rescued by a resident near a forest has led to the discovery of the first new cat species in 103 years. The animal, nicknamed ‘Tigrino’, was initially kept as a pet for nearly a decade before its wild nature became apparent. DNA analysis conducted after the animal was brought to the Senda Verde refuge in the Yungas region has revolutionized the classification of wild felines.
In a separate incident in Scotland, 21-year-old student Rhianna Mackay was saved from a cardiac arrest by her mother, Vicky Mackay. After Rhianna collapsed while using her phone, Vicky used first aid skills learned through the Scottish Rugby Federation to perform CPR. Rhianna survived the incident and eventually received her university degree from her hospital bed.
