Bolivian lawmakers push for Chapare militarization, demand Nilton Condori's prosecution

Parliamentary delegations from Bolivia’s departments met in Santa Cruz and called for the militarisation of the El Chapare region and the arrest of former president Evo Morales. Gabriel Corvera Sittic, head of the Tarija brigade, said seven of the newly‑formed brigades endorsed the demand and also urged the resignation of Ombudsman Pedro Calisaya, the immediate replenishment of fuel, food, oxygen and medicines to cities under blockade, and the investigation of Argentine deputies perceived as interfering.

In the same session legislators targeted Senator Nilton Condori of the Unidad Nacional, accusing him of inciting road blockades and sowing division. Deputies from various parties called for his prosecution on charges of sedition and violence, demanded his expulsion from the Senate, and cited his alleged links to the Tupac Katari farmer federation and other protest leaders. The combined calls reflect widening parliamentary pressure amid ongoing unrest in Bolivia.
