Bolivian Armed Forces deploy special units to San Ignacio de Velasco

The Bolivian Armed Forces have deployed special operations personnel to San Ignacio de Velasco, in the Santa Cruz department, to combat rising criminal violence in the region bordering Brazil.

Commander of the Armed Forces Víctor Hugo Balderrama stated that the mission is focused on direct action rather than dialogue with organized crime groups. He emphasized that the highly trained elite units are being sent to identify and neutralize criminal structures that have been affecting the local population.

The military deployment will be conducted in coordination with the Bolivian Police. While specific operational details remain classified, Balderrama confirmed that the troops will remain in the area for as long as necessary to restore security and peace to the border communities.
