Bolivian police recover stolen vehicle belonging to Argentine mayor

A Toyota Hilux belonging to Gustavo Subelza, the mayor of Salvador Mazza, Argentina, was recovered in a rural area of Bolivia following a police pursuit. The vehicle had been stolen on August 14 from a car wash in the Luján neighborhood, an incident during which an employee was reportedly threatened with a weapon.

Bolivian authorities from the Directorate for the Prevention and Investigation of Vehicle Theft (DIPROVE) in Yacuiba spotted the grey vehicle, which lacked license plates, traveling at high speeds near the community of Villa El Carmen. After a chase, officers verified the chassis number, confirming it was the 2024 model belonging to the mayor.

The driver, identified as Luis Marcelo Wayar Álvarez, was detained and placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry on suspicion of receiving stolen goods. While the vehicle has been found, authorities are still working to locate the individuals responsible for the original robbery.
