Bolivian protest solidarity rally in Rio de Janeiro
On 18 June, unions and political groups—including Sindipetro‑RJ, CSP‑Conlutas, CTB, Sintuff, CST, MRT and OCI—organized a demonstration in front of the Bolivian consulate in Flamengo, Rio de Janeiro. Participants delivered a Manifesto of International Solidarity to Consul Ramiro Flores, condemning the repression carried out by Bolivian President Rodrigo Paz’s government against workers, indigenous leaders and students demanding the restoration of fuel subsidies. The protesters called for an end to the crackdown, the release of political prisoners and criticized Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula’s perceived complacency toward the Bolivian authorities.
The rally also featured a representative of federal deputy Glauber Rocha and members of the PSOL party, underscoring broader regional concerns about neoliberal policies and political persecution in Bolivia.
