Bolivian street vendors announce nationwide protests for November

Street vendors and informal traders in Bolivia have declared a state of emergency, announcing plans for nationwide mobilizations during the last two weeks of November 2026. The movement is driven by a severe economic crisis, with sector leaders reporting that sales have plummeted by more than 50%.

Key grievances include rising electricity costs, gas supply issues, and the government's announcement to eliminate gasoline subsidies starting in 2027. Trade leaders, including César Gonzáles, expressed concern that removing fuel subsidies will increase transportation and distribution costs, further driving up consumer prices and reducing purchasing power.

A national assembly is being organized to coordinate pressure measures, with expected participation from various regions, including Beni and border areas such as Copacabana and Bermejo.
