Bolivian top companies see profit rise despite falling sales

Bolivia's 500 largest companies reported an 8% decline in sales during the 2025 fiscal year, yet real profits increased by 24%. This divergence is attributed to rising international commodity prices and income from financial operations and investments, particularly within the mining, agro-industrial, and banking sectors.

Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB) leads the national ranking with a turnover of Bs 28,488 million and profits of Bs 2,786 million. Other top performers include San Cristóbal mining company, YPFB Refinación, Cervecería Boliviana Nacional (CBN), and Entel.

In the mining sector, private mining operations contributed $180 million in royalties in 2025, representing 58% of the $309.7 million total collected. While mining cooperatives led in national production value with a 48.5% share, they contributed only 35% ($108 million) of the total royalties. The state sector accounted for 7% ($22 million) of the royalties collected.
