Bolivia's ATT revokes six frequencies from Radio Kawsachun Coca

The Bolivian Telecommunications and Transport Regulation and Oversight Authority (ATT) has revoked six radio frequencies belonging to the community station Radio Kawsachun Coca. The affected frequencies include 91.5 FM in Valle Alto-San Benito, 99.1 FM in Cochabamba, 90.7 FM in Villa Tunari, 95.7 FM in Ivirgarzama, 95.1 FM in Montero, and 91.5 FM in Buena Vista.

The ATT denied allegations of censorship, stating the measure is a response to the non-compliance of legal and contractual obligations. The regulator clarified that the procedure affects 20 operators and is not a targeted political action, emphasizing that they verify technical and administrative conditions rather than content. The ATT also noted that the station holds 15 licenses and can continue operations through its remaining frequencies.

Conversely, social organizations and leaders affiliated with the station, which features programs by former president Evo Morales, have denounced the move as an attack on community media and freedom of expression. Critics argue the revocation aims to silence voices critical of the current administration, particularly regarding economic issues and government management.
