Bolivia's Attorney General swears in nine new departmental prosecutors

Interim Attorney General José Armando Urioste Viera has sworn in nine new departmental prosecutors in Sucre, Bolivia. This move is part of a 90-day transitional restructuring period aimed at reorganizing the Public Ministry and restoring institutional credibility.

The new prosecutors represent the departments of Chuquisaca, La Paz, Cochabamba, Santa Cruz, Potosí, Tarija, Oruro, Beni, and Pando. Vice President Edmand Lara attended the ceremony, urging the new officials to act with independence and conduct investigations without political bias or distinction.

Lara emphasized that the prosecutors must prioritize the defense of victims and the rule of law rather than serving particular interests. The restructuring comes amid public scrutiny regarding the institution's ability to combat corruption and organized crime.
