Bolivia's BCP lifts all restrictions on individual dollar deposits
The Banco de Crédito de Bolivia (BCP) announced that it has removed every restriction on the withdrawal of dollar‑denominated deposits for natural‑person account holders. Customers can now withdraw any amount at any time, without limits, schedules or additional requirements, for balances recorded up to 30 June 2026. General manager Christian Hausherr said, “Hoy damos un paso decisivo para que quienes confiaron sus ahorros al BCP puedan disponer de ellos cuando lo necesiten, sin condiciones ni limitaciones.”
At the same time, the Central Bank of Bolivia kept the official exchange rate of the U.S. dollar steady at 10.70 bolivianos, pausing the upward trend that followed the introduction of a flexible exchange‑rate regime on 29 June 2026. The rate had risen from 9.73 at the start of the new system and had recently broken the 10‑boliviano barrier. This stability marks the first halt in the dollar’s climb since the policy change.
