Bolivia's business groups demand fixed dollar rate and urgent reforms amid economic crisis
The Confederation of Gremiales of Bolivia called for a single, fixed dollar exchange rate, seeking to eliminate the flexible system introduced on 29 June. Representative Mercedes Quisbert warned that daily fluctuations create uncertainty for merchants, adding that a stable rate would help keep product prices steady.
Businessman and politician Samuel Doria Medina urged the government of President Rodrigo Paz to act swiftly on the economic crisis. He advocated stronger anti‑corruption controls, institutionalising entities such as YPFB and the central bank, and giving a “sense of urgency” to reforms, saying support would follow if the administration improves its performance.
