Bolivia's Constitutional Court President Affirms Judicial Independence, Dismisses Political 'Phone Calls

Paola Prudencio, president of Bolivia's Tribunal Constitucional Plurinacional, said that the practice of political “telefonazos” influencing judicial decisions is now a thing of the past. She asserted that the court conducts its work autonomously, basing constitutional rulings solely on legal criteria without any external political or economic pressure.

Prudencio emphasized the institution’s role in strengthening public confidence in the justice system and protecting constitutional rights, underscoring that magistrates act independently of any party in power.
